During a briefing before Oracle OpenWorld, Oracle CEO Larry Ellison outlined his company’s strategy to overtake Amazon Web Services in the cloud computing market. “Our approach in the cloud business is to lower your costs and risks by completely autonomous software that runs itself and eliminates the cost of human labor,” he said. “That’s very different than what Amazon is trying to do. They are not even working on this.”
He added that the company plans to match Amazon’s prices but run twice as fast. Oracle will also offer simplified pricing. He promised more details at the upcoming event.
In addition, Ellison announced that the company plans to introduce the “world’s first autonomous” or “self-driving database.”
