Oracle is taking the wraps off a new version of its Application Express tools for building Web apps that rely on the company’s flagship database. The new release, known as Apex 4.1, adds improved error handling, easier uploading of spreadsheet data and better capabilities for creating add-ons. In addition, mobile development pros will appreciate the tools’ improved support for smartphone and tablet apps.
Apex is a free add-on to Oracle’s database. It can be used with the free Oracle Express Edition, as well as the expensive commercial editions of the database.
