Over the past few months there’s been an exodus from the Java Community Process (JCP) as some members became dissatisfied with Oracle’s tightening grip on the Java standard.
This week, Oracle nominated Bruno Souza of the Brazilian Java group, SouJava, to join.
“Bruno has been a passionate supporter of open source and of Java from its earliest days, and he would be a great asset to the Executive Committee, particularly as we work over the coming year to modify the organisation’s processes as we move into its second decade,” JCP chairman Patrick Curran said.
The Apache Software Foundation was a key member of the JCP representing open source, but it left the governing body last year.
