Oracle is ramping up their in-person Oracle Code 2017 events, which will be offered for free to developers. Of course with free events, the first question most people ask is, will it be all marketing? Bruno Borges from Oracle told Developer.com,
“It’s not to talk about products or commercial solutions. We’re focused on providing information that addresses what developers need to know these days.” He went on to say, “ Applications have to deal with millions or billions of users, they have to be online 24/7, and be accessible from anywhere on any device.
The events will cover a number of core technologies areas where developers today are focusing. These include containers, microservices, API applications, DevOps, Low Code Platforms, Machine Learning, AI, Chatbots, and more. You can expect sessions on Java, Node.js, and other languages as well as a focus on databases.
In addition to the technical sessions, a couple of hands-on labs on I/O Intensive Cloud Apps and Cloud-Native Microservices. Borges commented:
“We’re looking for technical content about your approach to solving specific problems in the app development process. Developers like to see code and live demos so they can learn by example. And it’s more fun that way.“
The Oracle Code 2017 events will be happening in a number of locations around the world ranging from San Francisco to Bangalore to Sydney. The events start in March and run through August. At the time of this posting, four locations were already open to registrations:
- San Francisco, March 1st event
- Austin, Texas, March 8th event
- New York, March 21st event
- Washington , D.C., March 28th event
