The OpenSolaris Governing Board resigned today.

The vote was unopposed.

“I’m very sad to report that, as expected, it proved necessary for the OpenSolaris Governing Board to collectively resign today,” board member Simon Phipps wrote today on his blog.

Now the responsibility to maintain OpenSolaris falls on Oracle, but as has been reported, Oracle has no interest in doing so. OpenSolaris community members have been moving to the Illumos project in an effort to keep the OpenSolaris codebase alive.
