OpenLogic Launches OLEX App Store Edition

OpenLogic announced a new product today called the OLEX App Store Edition.

The company describes it as “a set of products and services aimed at helping developers and application store proprietors identify and comply with open source licenses.”

OpenLogic recently analyzed 450 top applications for the iPhone, iPad and Android phones. They found that 88 percent of Android applications and 41 percent of iPhone/iPad applications use open source software.

“The number of application stores, both mobile and traditional, have skyrocketed over the past few years and our research shows that open source is being widely used in these apps,” said Steve Grandchamp, CEO of OpenLogic. “Open source licenses have clear requirements, but many app developers and application store proprietors don’t have the tools or processes in place to ensure open source license compliance. OpenLogic OLEX App Store Edition makes it easy.”
