Open Source Web Application Test Suite Gets $3.1 Million Funding

Cross-browser testing is the most annoying aspect of Web development, but it might be getting a lot easier.

In 2004, Jason Huggins built Selenium. Selenium is an open source cross-browser testing tool. Sauce Labs is the company Huggins setup to make money selling support and services built on top of Selenium.

On Wed., CNET reported that Huggins announced that Sauce Labs has $3.1 million in funding to expand its services. One such offering is rather than running you’re own Selenium instance, Sauce offers a cloud solution.

“By offering a cloud-based version of Selenium,” reports CNET, “users have the ability to parallelize their test and use cloud resources on demand in order to take advantage of a large number of instances in the cloud and get test results and bug reports must faster.”
