Open source spmfilter is a e-mail spam filtering framework written in C. Today the project released version 0.4.

The open source project is still in its early stages but the new release offers some much appreciated enhancements.

Developers added a generic database interface to provide transparent connection with multiple database systems. Spmfilter supports: PostgresSQL, MySQL, SQLite, BerkeleyDB and LDAP databases.

GNU Autotools has been replaced with the Cmake build system.

They also added support for TLS, IPv6 and MIME. New binary packages are available for CentOS, RedHat Enterprise and Fedora Core.
