It’s been over two years since Elastix 1.0 was released, and now the newest major release of the open source communication server, version 2.0, is here.
There are a lot of new features in Elastix 2.0, which ties e-mail, instant messaging, faxing, VoIP and video conferencing into one server.
“The new Elastix dashboard allows the user to be aware of the system state, its performance, missed calls, emails, news from Elastix,” the press release said.
Elastix now supports add-ons so developers can more easily write applications to plug into the communication server. There’s also a “conference room,” “operator panel,” mail module improvements, Web-based faxing, DHCP module improvements, automatic backups and more.
