In 2010, Google Chrome’s share of the browser market nearly doubled. At the same time, according to Net Applications’ data, Microsoft’s Internet Explorer market share dropped to 58 percent. That’s down from 75 percent in mid-2008.
“I can see why Microsoft is considering adding radical new features–such as the proposed ‘Do Not Track’ tool to Internet Explorer 9,” ZDNet’s Paula Rooney said.
Both Microsoft and Mozilla plan to release major upgrades to their respective browsers in the first quarter 2011. Google’s Chrome netbook operating system is expected to be out in mid-2011–undoubtedly bundled with their Chrome Web browser.
