The open source Silverstripe content management system (CMS) has become the first open source Web application to attain Microsoft certification.

The Inquirer’s Lawrence Latif reported, “Microsoft certification is generally used as a sign of acceptance to instill a sense of safety in those follower types who look to deploy products wearing the Vole’s badge of honour on machines running Windows.”

Vole is a nickname The Inquirer bestowed on Microsoft — it’s also a type of rodent.

According to Latif, the firm behind Silverstripe spent three years trying to make their CMS work with Windows.
