At its GPU technology conference, Nvidia unveiled Nsight, Eclipse Edition, a new integrated development environment (IDE) for Linux and Mac developers. The company claims the Eclipse-based tool is the world’s first IDE for developing GPU-accelerated apps on Linux or OS X systems. “Nvidia Nsight is the ultimate development platform for heterogeneous computing,” said Nvidia’s Ian Buck. “Whether you’re a graphics or HPC developer, Nsight makes it easy to develop parallel code for GPUs and CPUs using your preferred IDE.”

At the same time, Nvidia updated Nvidia Nsight Visual Studio Edition, its comparable IDE for Windows developers. Key features in the new release include local single GPU debugging, performance improvements to the frame profiler and debugger, and support for DirectX 9 frame debugging, frame profiling and analysis.
