Oracle has announced several Java Enhancement Proposals (JEPs) that will add new capabilities to Java 9. The JEPs include Process API Updates, New HTTP Client, a lightweight JSON API, improved contended locking, segmentation of the JIT compiler’s code cache, updates to sjavac (the “smart” Java compiler), and Modular Source Code. In addition, Project Valhalla and the Java Native Runtime (JNR) Project may contribute to Java 9
