Mobile application performance management vendor Crittercism has released a new iOS State of Mobile Report that sheds light on how often mobile apps fail to work properly. According to the firm, 46 percent of iOS apps crash 1 percent of the time or more. Apps are most likely to crash on the iPad Mini and the least likely to fail on the iPhone 5s. The overall crash rate for iOS 7.0 and 7.1 is 2.1 percent.
One factor that influences app crash rates is mobile development firms’ reliance on cloud computing. The average app uses more than six different cloud services, says the report. If any one of those services experiences downtime, so will the app.
