While it still has a long way to go to catch Android and iOS, the Windows Phone Marketplace has unofficially passed the 50,000 app mark. It took the platform 14 months to reach the milestone. That’s better than the 19 months it took Android to reach the same number of apps, but not quite as impressive as the 12 months it took iOS.
The rate at which apps are being added to the app store appears to be increasing. When the first Nokia phones using Windows Phone 7 being hitting shelves next month, that could spur additional app development for the platform.
