Google has released a slew of new information about how to build Glass apps. The company released a new API called Glassware, and it recommends that developers write their apps in Java or Python and use OAuth verification. It also explained that users will interact with Glass apps via “cards” on a timeline. Cards can include text, images, HTML or video.

Google also offered four overarching design guidelines:

  1. Design for Glass.
  2. Don’t get in the way.
  3. Be timel.y
  4. Avoid the unexpected.

Finally—and most importantly from a developer’s perspective—Google revealed that it will not allow advertising, paid apps, data collection or virtual goods in apps. In other words, there won’t be any way for developers to make money.
