A feature change in Google’s mobile search app could be good news for the mobile development industry. When Google search returns relevant content from within apps and users don’t have those apps on their devices, Google will now ask them if they would like to download the apps. After the app is downloaded, Google then brings up the relevant content.
“We want to make content in apps more accessible in search,” said Google engineer Rajan Patel.
While Google still dominates the mobile search market, its market share fell from 82.8 percent in 2012 to 68 percent in 2014.
