Microsoft to Shutter Windows Mobile App Store

For some time, Microsoft has been phasing out support for its old Windows Mobile platform, and now it has announced that it will shut down the app store for the OS on May 9. Those who are still using Windows Mobile phones will be able to use any apps they’ve downloaded after that date, but they won’t be able to download any new apps or reinstall apps they’ve deleted from their phones.

Microsoft is encouraging users and developers to transition to its new mobile platform, Windows Phone. The Windows Phone Marketplace will remain operational and currently has approximately 65,000 apps.
