Microsoft had previously released a Quantum Development Kit for Windows, and now, in response to developer demand, it has released a version of that kit for Linux and MacOS. In addition, the company updated the Windows version so that it now supports Python. The new development kit is also four to five times faster than the previous version.

The Microsoft Quantum Development Kit includes the Q# language and a quantum computing simulator. It integrates with Visual Studio Code, Microsoft’s open source integrated development environment (IDE).
