Although they are often fierce rivals, Microsoft and Google are working together on a project related to their respective JavaScript variations, TypeScript and AtScript. In a blog post, S. Somasegar, corporate vice president of the developer division at Microsoft, wrote, “We’re excited to announce that we have converged the TypeScript and AtScript languages and that Angular 2, the next version of the popular JavaScript library for building Web sites and Web apps, will be developed with TypeScript.” He added that working with Google has prompted Microsoft to add new features, including annotations, to TypeScript.
AngularJS 2 is expected to feature a unified component model, a mobile-first approach, ECMAScript 6 capabilities and some performance improvements.
