Micro Focus has sold its SUSE division to a Swedish group called EQT Partners for $2.535 billion. SUSE is known for its open source enterprise software, including its very popular Linux distribution. It reported revenue of $303 million and profits of $98.7 for its most recent fiscal year. Micro Focus had owned SUSE since 2014.
EQT says it is planning to hire more software developers to expand SUSE’s product line. “Investment into engineers was somewhat restricted under prior ownership. That will change,” EQT’s Johannes Reichel said.
