Mendix is rolling out a new low-code development platform called Mendix Assist that uses artificial intelligence to help citizen developers create apps. According to the company, it offers coding suggestions that boast 90 percent accuracy. That can boost productivity and reduce defects for developers, as well as enabling non-developers to create apps.
The company says that by 2020, there will be five times as many open developer jobs as there are qualified programmers to fill them. Mendix Assist is meant to help fill that need.
“It really feels like you have a coach looking over your shoulder, gently coaching you in the right direction in building your first enterprise application,” said Johan den Haan, CTO of Mendix.
