Google has been a leader in artificial intelligence and machine learning, and now it is applying that technology to a somewhat surprising endeavor: comic books. The company is launching a new feature called Bubble Zoom that makes it easier to read comics purchased through Google Play.

Bubble Zoom uses machine learning to identify speech bubbles in comics. It then zooms in on each speech bubble one at a time so that users can read the text on devices with small screens.

For now the feature is available only on Android and only for Marvel and DC comics. As the technology continues to improve with training, Google plans to roll it out to other comics and manga.
