Lucid Imagination Secures $10 Million in Series B Funding

Today, Lucid Imagination announced that the open source search company has pulled together $10 million in Series B funding.

Lucid Imagination is the first commercial entity dedicated to Apache Lucene/Solr open source technology. The company provides software, documentation, commercial support, training, consulting and free certified distributions for Lucene and Solr.

The $10 million came from a new investment from Shasta Ventures and cash from existing partners Granite Ventures and Walden International.

The company boasts customers such as AT&T, Nike, Sears, Ford, Verizon, The Guardian, The Motley Fool and Cisco.

“Companies want to find data as easily as consumers find stuff on the internet every day,” Lucid Chief Executive Officer Eric Gries said. “Technology-savvy executives recognize they need enterprise-ready technology that can deliver search power that is tailored to fit their business needs and their marketplace.”

Lucid Imagination was created in 2007.
