The Linux Foundation has unveiled its new real-time operating system (OS) for the Internet of Things (IoT). Called Zephyr, the new open source project aims to make IoT development less expensive and more stable. Many different vendors have launched their own IoT platforms, leading to fragmentation in the industry. Uniting on a standard promoted by the Linux Foundation could advance IoT development as a whole.
Currently, Zephyr supports selected IoT hardware from Arduino, Intel and NXP.
