Yesterday, Linus Torvalds released the first release candidate for Linux 2.6.37.

Even with a shortened merge window, Torvalds said they were just shy of 10,000 commits since 2.6.36.

The biggest change, he said, was that they had “gotten rid of the BKL (big kernel lock) in all the core stuff.”
