During the recent LinuxCon convention in Vancouver, Linux creator Linus Torvalds took the stage to answer some questions about Android. During the past few years, there has been a lot of debate in the open source community over whether Android is or is not Linux. Android is quite a bit different than most Linux distributions, and the Android drivers haven’t been included in the Linux kernel since 2009.
While Android is currently something of a fork of Linux, Torvalds seemed confident that “eventually Android and Linux will come back to a common kernel, but probably not for four to five years.” View article
