Learn to Code While You Fly

Code.org and Alaska Airlines are partnering together to bring free coding classes to the airline’s in-flight entertainment system. Specifically, the system will offer a free educational video series that features Bill Gates, among other industry leaders. The videos will also be available through Khan Academy and will be incorporated into some middle school and high school curriculum.

“With hubs up and down the ‘Tech Coast,’ we’re both witnessing and leveraging the innovations that we see occurring every day in our own backyard,” stated David Scotland, manager of inflight entertainment and connectivity at Alaska Airlines. “Code.org’s new series is an entertaining and approachable way for us all to gain a basic awareness of how computers work. We’re pleased to offer over 40 million guests the opportunity to view Code.org’s new video series inflight through our partnership.”
