Kaplan Inc., a for-profit education company known for its test preparation courses, has purchased Dev Bootcamp, a San Francisco Based coding school. Now two years old, Dev Bootcamp offers nine-week courses in software development for $12,200. It says that 80 percent of graduates find development jobs within four months of graduation.
“We think it’s important to start building a different business on a new trend that’s disrupting higher education,” said Bernardo Rodriguez, president of Kaplan’s Advance unit. “Programs like this could become a real alternative to a college education.”
The purchase price for Dev Bootcamp was not disclosed.
