JavaFX 11 Reaches General Availability

Oracle has announced that JavaFX 11 is now generally available as a standalone module. The rich client technology was formerly part of the Java Development Kit (JDK), but now developers must explicitly include JavaFX modules in their applications, separate from the JDK, if they want to take advantage of its capabilities.

New features in JavaFX 11 include the FX Robot API, support for FX Swing interop, an upgraded version of MarlinFX, support for GTX 3 by default and more. The update also fixes some bugs. In addition, Linux desktop users should note that JavaFX 11 will crash systems running Ubuntu 18.04.
