Oracle has announced that it will release Java Development Kit (JDK) 9 on July 27. One of the biggest new features in Java is modularity, a complex capability that has previously led to delays in the release cycle. Modular Java should be more scalable and easier to deploy on mobile or Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
Other noteworthy capabilities in JDK 9 include a read-eval-print loop, ahead-of-time compilation and memory improvements for strings storage.
