Mobile app monitoring company Crittercism has released new data which shows that during the first half of December, iOS apps crashed about twice as often as Android apps. Breaking the data down by individual release, the study found that iOS 5.0.1 was the most likely to crash, accounting for 28.64 percent of all crashes. By comparison, the least stable version of Android, 2.3.3, accounted for only 3.86 percent of crashes.
The fact that iOS developers must wait for Apple to approve updates could be causing some of the disproportionately high number of crashes. Some say Apple’s iAd could also be responsible for some of the instability.
