At the Intel Developer Forum, the chip maker showed off a number of technological advances related to the Internet of Things (IoT). For example, it showcased the Memomi memory mirror which allows apparel customers to see how clothing would look in different colors, the Nabi clip which reminds parents if they leave a child in the car and a vending machine that can identify a buyer’s age and gender. In addition, the company announced a software platform to support its Curie module for wearables. The Curie chip will also be the focus of a new TV competition show called “America’s Greatest Makers” where inventors using Curie modules in their designs will compete for a million-dollar prize.
Other noteworthy technology on display at the event included Intel’s RealSense vision technology, new wake-on-demand technology for Microsoft’s Cortana digital assistant, Enhanced Privacy Identification (EPID) technology and the new Optane SSDs. And finally, Intel ended the keynote presentation with a swarm of dancing robot spiders on the stage.
