According to a new report from market research firm IDC, smartphone manufacturers shipped more than 1.4 billion devices last year, setting a new record that was 10.1 percent higher than 2014’s smartphone shipments. In the fourth quarter of last year, 399.5 million smartphones shipped, up from 377.8 million the previous year.
Samsung remains the top vendor, having shipped nearly 325 million phones for the year, followed by Apple with 231.5 million units shipped and Huawei with 106.6 million devices shipped. Huawei had the strongest year-over-year growth at 44.3 percent.
