Humble Indie Bundle Raises more than $1 Million, now the Games will be Open Source

The Humble Indie Bundle is an experiment to see if gamers will voluntarily hand over money for a pack of five games. In just over 7 days, 124,492 people have contributed more than $1 million in a “pay what you want” scheme to fund the development of these indie games.

“The Humble Indie Bundle experiment has been a massive success beyond our craziest expectations,” the group’s website reads.

In response to the overwhelming financial support, the developers are open sourcing all five of the games, and donating 30 percent of the money to the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Child’s Play charity.

One of the games, Lugaru, is already open sourced and the rest will be as soon as the developers can make them ready for distribution – “hopefully this week.”
