HTML5 Spec Is Finalized

The Worldwide Web Consortium (W3C) has announced that it has finalized the specification for HTML5. However, the long-awaited update has a ways to go before it becomes an official standard. First, it will undergo interoperability and performance testing. Then it will become a “Candidate Recommendation,” at which time browser makers and other software development firms will do some final testing.

Even though the specification isn’t officially a standard, many Web developers have already been incorporating some HTML5 in their Web apps. IT allows advanced use of videos, animations, graphics and typography in Web applications without requiring the use of plug-ins.
