HP is making good on its promises regarding webOS. Last week, they released the mobile platform as an open source project, and currently they are hiring at least 53 new employees who will work on webOS in HP’s offices in Sunnyvale, Calif., and Shanghai. And most of those jobs are engineering positions that pay well.
“Is HP going to foolishly go after the consumer market again only to fail and be forced into more fire sales?” asks an article on The Powerbase. “Doubtful. We think it seems clear that HP’s goal here is to create a secure platform that they can sell to corporate environments and government institutions.”
