HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer, Asus Building Windows VR Headsets

The big story at yesterday’s Microsoft event was the new Surface Studio and Windows 10 Creator Update, but Microsoft also announced some virtual reality (VR) news. Manufacturers like Asus, Acer, Lenovo, HP and Dell are said to be working on new Windows 10-based VR headsets that will feature inside-out, six-degree-of-freedom tracking. That means the headsets will be able to tell when users are moving their heads and when they are moving through space without needing any external sensors.

Prices for the new headsets will start at just $299, which is fairly low for VR hardware. The company did not say when the devices will ship, but they are expected around the time that the Windows 10 Creators Update becomes available in the spring.
