Hadoop distributor Hortonworks has released the 3.0 version of its Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP). The update is based on Apache Hadoop 3.1, and it features YARN support for Docker images, support for GPUs and enhanced security and governance. It also incorporates Hive 3.0 that includes integration with Apache Druid for faster performance.
In addition, the company also announced new partnerships with three cloud computing companies: Microsoft, Google and IBM. Microsoft Azure now offers all three of Hortonworks’ key products: HDP, Hortonwork DataFlow (HDF) and Hortonworks DataPlane Service (DPS). Google Cloud Platform now offers HDP and HDF services, and IBM has a new service called Hosted Analytics with Hortonworks.
