Microsoft is changing its policy on HoloLens sales. In the past, only businesses and developers who completed an application process could buy the augmented reality (AR) headset, and they could purchase only through Microsoft sales reps. Now, anyone who lives in the U.S. or Canada and has $3,000 to spare can buy a HoloLens through the Microsoft Store. There is a sales limit: a maximum of five per customer.

Microsoft is still selling the same version of HoloLens that has been available up until now, and customers are informed during the purchase process that it’s a development version not a finished product. They also must agree not to resell the device. However, they no longer have to complete a lengthy application process before the purchase.
