Apple has announced that a bug in HealthKit—the iOS 8 development tools for creating health and fitness apps—is going to delay the release of apps that use HealthKit technology. Originally, Apple had planned to release the first HealthKit apps on Wednesday when it released iOS 8. However, a spokesperson now says, “We’re working quickly to have the bug fixed in a software update and have HealthKit apps available by the end of the month.”
The delay could be a big problem for third-party mobile development firms that were hoping to begin generating revenue from their health and fitness apps this week. However, Apple’s Health app is not affected by the bug.
