Hackers published malicious applications on the Android Market to steal data from Android smartphone users. On Sunday, Google said they plugged the security hole and yanked the applications from the Android Market.

Google remotely removed the malicious applications from affected Android devices, suspended the associated developer accounts and called the cops.

The vulnerabilities don’t affect Android versions 2.2.2 or higher. You can learn more about the security flaw here.
