On Wednesday, a top Google executive said that their open source Chrome operating system is scheduled to ship in “late fall.”
Google is hoping to challenge Microsoft Windows for developer and user market share.
Reuters reported that Google Executive Sundar Pinchai said, “Chrome OS is one of the few future operating systems for which there are already millions of applications that work.” He continued, “You don’t need to redesign Gmail for it work on Chrome. Facebook does not need to write a new app for Chrome.”
Chrome is an operating system that runs in a Web browser, on the Internet and in the cloud.
