Google has announced that its annual Code-in contest for teenaged programmers will begin November 26. This is the third year for the event, which aims to promote open source software development. Those who choose to participate will work with one of ten open source projects on tasks like writing or refactoring code, creating documentation, outreach/research, quality assurance and user interface design. Winners will receive T-shirts, certificates and trips to Google headquarters.

“Over the last two years we have had 904 students compete in the contest from 65 countries,” said Google’s Stephanie Taylor. She encouraged teachers to promote the contest to their students who are interested in development.
