Good news for developers who’ve been wanting to write apps for Google Glass—the company has released a new set of development tools, which it calls a Glassware Development Kit or GDK. The updated toolset promises to make it easier to create immersive apps.

As part of the release of the new version of the GDK, Google also demonstrated a few apps that show what’s possible with the toolset. For example, Glass wearers looking at street signs in foreign languages can turn on an app called Word Lens with a voice command. The app will translate the sign, overlaying the translation on the actual sign when the user looks at it through Glass. Other interesting Glass apps on display included Strava, an app that tracks biking and running routes, and a cooking app called AlltheCooks.
