Google has released Daydream VR SDK 1.0, a set of tools that will allow developers to build apps for its Daydream virtual reality platform. In addition, it has opened up the Daydream Access Program (DAP), which allows developers to push their apps to Google Play and gives them first access to Daydream tool updates.
The company first announced the Daydream platform at its Google I/O event this year. Daydream-capable phones and a Daydream headset are expected to launch later this fall. Several companies, including Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Imax, MLB, the NBA, CNN, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Ubisoft and Electronic Arts plan to have apps ready when the first Daydream devices launch.
