This week, Google made a number of changes to the Google Play store policies. Android apps in the store are barred from displaying offensive content, as well as from including links to or ads with offensive content. In addition, the new policies bar apps from interfering with or restricting typical Android operations, and they are no longer allowed to put ads on the notifications screen. Other rules aim to stop spam, prevent apps from impersonating other apps and rein in the use of excessive or misleading keywords.

“Our aim is to foster a high standard of app behavior,” Google told its developers.

The new policies take effect in 30 days.
