On its new Dart website, Google has unveiled an “early preview” of its newest programming language, and project leader Lars Bak has given a talk about Dart at a conference in Denmark. Google intends the language to provide an alternative to JavaScript. In one test, Dart was able to load a 55,000-line program in 60 milliseconds, compared to 640 milliseconds for JavaScript.
“If we want to focus on making the Web better over time, we have to innovate,” said Bak. He added that the next step for the language is to get some outside feedback. “We hope the other browser vendors will be excited,” he said.
