Google has released a developer preview for Android Things, its Android-based platform for the Internet of Things (IoT). According to the company, Android Things is an evolution of its previous IoT project called Brillo, and it will work with developers who have Brillo-based products to help them migrate to Android Things. The new project supports Android development tools and Google’s cloud computing services.
Google also has an IoT communications platform called Weave, and in the same announcement it said that several device makers are backing the Weave technology. Those manufacturers include Belkin WeMo, LiFX, Honeywell, Wink, TP-Link and First Alert.
