Today, Google released the initial integration of Flash Player for the open source Chrome browser in their developer channel, but not everyone is impressed.
“Personaly I think it was a horrible idea. I hope you will handle all the security holes around Acrobat Reader and Flash,” lyesmith commented on the Google announcement.
Chrome users have to issue a command-line flag to activate the Flash plug-in.
“Moving forward, Google will be including Flash Player in Chrome so users will always have the most current release and a safer and more seamless experience,” the Adobe announcement said.
“I don’t want this poison!,” Laurent Smith commented.
Another comment echoed the consternation about this change to Chrome.
“Please, this is a *horrible* idea,” Paul Traina said. “The last thing we want is this big chunk of buggy proprietary code with known security flaws as part of Chrome.”
Traina asked, what happened to building a “lightweight fast browser?”
